The Racer-X Carbon arrived and it looks beautiful. It looks better than what we expected. There is a nice clear coat finish on top of the carbon so that it'll protect the carbon and any scratches would only be on the clear coat. The finish is also not the same as the rear carbon triangles that we're used to seeing on the Titus frames. It's hard to describe without seeing one up close and hopefully you can see the details with our pics. Needless to say, it looks great. There are aluminum lugs in the high stress areas and there is also what Titus calls a R.U.B, Reinforced Under Belly anodized aluminum plate that protects the bottom of the down tube where rocks and dirt hit the most.
The small 100 frame is 5.31lbs so that's 0.35lbs lighter than the Ti frame we brought in earlier in the year. I thought the Ti frame was light until I picked up this frame...wow! Titus tells us that they overbuilt the frame so that it'll be durable and offers a 5 year warranty for the carbon frame, this tells me that they're confident that the frame will last.
Taking pictures of this frame was challenging as the black carbon makes it hard to show off the details and finish of the frame. It'd be too easy to just show a black frame with the pictures so we tried to light it so that some of the carbon weave shows through in the final results.
